The Travelling Yellow Skirt Freak Show

I'm part of this wonderful project started by Melanie from Bag and a beret, a yellow skirt is travelling around the world searching for friendly bloggers to style her.
She started her journey in November as a challenge for all those who didn't believe in her appeal and infinite possibilities, she faced the Canadian snow, the Australian sea and the New Zealander wind and now she's finally with me in Italy.

I illustrated her as the animal shelter imagined by Melanie in her amazing tribute to the skirt, the animals are a penguin, a cat hanging by its claws and a dog, I represented them after their long travel, enjoing hospitality around the world.

 Melanie

Sarah @ Misfits Vintage

Helga @ Helga Von Trollop

Helga sent me some beautiful presents with the skirt

My new favourite bag made by her, a necklace, lots of bracelets, a hearts printed scarf and an amazing body moisturiser from New Zealand.

Here is me with the yellow skirt in my garden

I'm wearing

Shirt: customized The Velvet Underground and Nico shirt from Etsy
Skirt: Travelling Yellow Skirt
Hat: Vintage
Hat 2: Vintage
Necklace and bag: made by Helga
Brooch and bangles: Krista & antique market

I've added the Andy Warhol's banana on the skirt

and now she's ready to fly to Tami in California!!!

If you are interested read the rules on Melanie's blog!!

  2. Squee, I LOVE this!!! Adding the Velvet Underground banana is an excellent notion if I may say so! The blue of the top really makes the yellow pop, or it could be the other way around? Not sure, anyway, it looks fantastic on you dear. Your illustration and the handmade bag are fab too xxxx

  8. This is such a fab idea!
Melanie is deliciously artistic in her bonkers red hat and wonderful coffin heels.
Sarah nails the windswept Australian beach-babe look in her sexaciously customized Tee.
Helga is adding Gothic drama with her backdrop and magnificent black hat.
You've added POP to the proceedings...brilliant!
You couldn't find a better Top to mixed that skirt with, the yellow banana ties in awesomely!
You add your artistic panache in also teaming it with a fabulous embellished furry hat...I like the floppy one too but the furry is my fave.
Looking forward to see what Tami comes up with once this well traveled piece of skirt hits California.
I love the illustration too, you are so talented...xXx

  9. Oh I love your painting of the creatures sheltering under the Travelling Yellow Skirt, like a crazy yellow circus tent but the animals are having a break from performing!
And you have styled the skirt brilliantly with the Velvet Underground t-shirt and the two different hats. I love that you added the banana!
Gorgeous goodies from Helga too, that bag is a beauty. So are YOU!
PS. Do you happen to know where the skirt is going after Tami? xxxx

  10. Just discovered it is going to Amber of Butane Anvil after Tami, then on to Shelley of Forest City Fashionista, and then (I hope) ME! Excited! xxxx

  14. Oh! Where to start? I'm thrilled to see you in the Yellow Skirt! It's like Dr. Zhivago meets Banana (photo with fur hat) or The Factory meets Banana with the floppy hat. And you illustration is brilliant! So kind of you to host a little tea party for our animal friends. And the map in the background... You've depicted everything that this skirt stands for. Mwah. I'm so glad you joined the Freak Show. Helga's gifts are also wonderful. This skirt must be vibrating with good vibes now.

  16. You look absolutely beautiful and have totally done that delicious skirt justice after the legends of Melanie, Sarah and Helga. I love your illustration with the animals having a little tea party under the skirt and of course, how you've styled it. The bejewelled Cossack hat, the floppy hippy hat, the Andy Warhol banana and even better, the Edie Pop alternative.
    You are my hero. xxxx

  17. I was just thinking today, "I wonder where the travelling skirt will turn up next" and here she is with you!! What a beautiful post, your illustration of the animal tea party is so, so perfect my dear:)). The puppy has eaten all the cream cakes and fallen asleep:). Could you possibly be any more beautiful?????? And it's lovely to see you outside, shocking the neighbours and wildlife out of their winter slumber "wake up mofo's it's nearly spring!!!". Helga has sent you a parcel of total gorgeousness, I LOVE the bag so much and that skirt DEFINITELY needed a Warhol banana! xoxoxoxoxooxox

  18. Holy awesomeness - you are BEAUTIFUL in the travelling yellow skirt! I love watching how we all put our stamp on it - it is so absolutely YOU here, as much as it was ABSOLUTELY Helga... and me... and Melanie. I love this skirt so much.

Your artwork with the sheltering animals is absolutely exquisite - i LOVE it so much. Why do we all live so far away from each other? And aren't we LUCKY that we found each other!

Love your beautiful bones, now send me that jumper. Thanks. Sarah xxxxx

  39. OOO, somehow I missed your rendition of the yellow traveling skirt. Your look is fabulous, especially with the fur hat. The turquoise works great to compliment the yellow too. And what more could a yellow skirt want than a banana from Warhol?! Way to go.
