So a packet from Kinky Melon's Retro Boutique wrapped in an amazing paper with Ulay (she knows about my obsession for him and Marina Abramović) and Brian Eno "en travesti" on, is just her daily routine and she didn't pay attention to my extreme jubilee and (I admit it) few squeals!
My friend Vix, fromVintage Vixen and Kinky Melon's Retro Boutique owner, sent me lots of extra presents with the dress and the blouse,
but now it's time to take a deep breath...and show you some photos..
Vix's Boutique
I felt deeply in love with this blouse since I saw it featured on Vix's blog
I decided to do a Tim Walker inspired photoshoot, he often use models as dolls creating beautiful and haunting images, my seven years old daughter (still homesick for weeks now) took all the photos and helped me to style the clothes after seeing Tim Walker's works
Dress: Vintage Kinky Melon's
Hat: Vintage 1950's
Bangles: my collection
Blouse: Vintage Kinky Melon's
Pastel Floral Skirt: Vintage 1970's
Hat: made by me

The book and polish sound so well received!! These are some of your most stunning photos, the girls did so well helping you out! They are never going to want to go back to school hanging with Mom is too much fun! Your photo shoots and posts are always so creative just like you my beautiful friend. These Ulay and Morena photos are hilarious, I have never heard of them before. .I miss you darling!!!!

ReplyDeleteOh so much wonderful magnificence! You are SPLENDID in the beautiful maxi darling - the colours are gorgeous! And suicidal man is amazing - I'll bet you never take him off! A parcel from Vix is always something to get excited about - doesn't she have marvellous insight into us? She's a voodoo high priestess for sure.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Ulay and Marina Abramović (I'm an art pleb!) but I'm in love with their amazing connection in these images and now I'm off to find out more about them. I want what they have! (Especially her in that stunning red dress!)
Love you more than art! Sarah xxx
Not only are you an inspiring artist, but you are a walking, talking work of art!!!!! I'm a big fan of Tim Walker's work too. One day I will be able to afford his book but until then I have to just drool over his editorials in my very old Vogue mags. Your dear wee darling did a wonderful job of helping you style your shoot, someone give that girl a camera! :)). I'm sorry to hear she's so sick, it must be so miserable and boring for the poor lassie. Sending her some lovely warm sunshine and a big hug. Suicidal man ... oh lord, where do I start? That has to be the best print ever designed! I'm so happy the blouse belongs to you and Vix is right, it has finally found its rightful owner! Vix sent me the same shade of turquoise nail paint and I LOVE it!! It's such a wonderful, saturated pigment and brightens up any dreary day:). One can NEVER have too many bhindis, the peacock feathers are the perfect backdrop for your beautiful painting of Vix and like Sarah, I have never heard of that couple and I LOVE the lady pushing past in the hallway and the final pic is so tender:). Much love to you my dear friend, Desiree xoxoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos! It might have been fun for your daughter to help you with shooting :)

I wish I could do mine half as well xxxx

Beautiful gifts from darling Vix, of course - she does have magical powers! The maxi is beautiful, and I remember when she featured the suicidal man blouse on her blog, it's an amazing print, funny yet touching and sad. AND a handmade Vix original dress, what an honour!

Such beautiful images Edie, I love the misty starry one and you lifting the veil. My seven year old son often helps me when I'm taking photos too and he enjoys it, I think it's so great that you're involving your daughter in the process. I think it all helps them to learn that being creative is part of everyday life and is there for everyone and anyone who wants to do it. Your gifts from Vix are beautiful, I'm intrigued by the suicidal man blouse as I didn't see Vix's original post about it. I hadn't heard of the Abramovics so it's interesting to learn a little about them. I love the bow and arrow photo best, and the woman squeezing past them in the doorway. xx
ReplyDeleteNice post!
