He shows us his devotion to Mary Shelley's book inventing new materials and shapes that came to their shuddering climax with a lovely transparent acrylic lace in the shape of barbed-wire fence .
The pastel colour palette, the sleeveless shirt that had the monster's face screen-printed on and the deconstructed vintage inspired dresses make this collection one of the most inspirational and innovative.
I love to sew clothes that resemble Dr Frankenstein's creature, especially because I can't sew very well so it's easy for me assembling old clothes and creating new ones.
This is a dress I made last year that I'm wearing a lot in these days and it's made of a vintage brocade skirt that was too big for me, an old Custo's tube dress, floral chiffon, a gold Missoni's fabric and blue velvet.

It's beautiful...love what you've done, the mix of fabrics and styles is gorgeous & you look stunning as always!! Love Frankenstein :) Have a marvellous week doll <3
ReplyDeleteAll my sewing is usually repair related. If I were to do a whole garment it would look so piecemeal! Your dress looks amazing and so do your pics. Chiffon seems like it would be super difficult to sew-- I am intimidated by it lolzzz
ReplyDeletewow, I love this pastel Frankenstein's monster look. Your tea and toast Frankenstein with the minnie mouse hat made me laugh a lot. Frankenweenie made me cry at the cinema! The plastic chain mail bow dress is amazing. Your own creations are fantastic! I really love the basque shape of the dress with the bell sleeves. Such a gorgeous print too xxxx
ReplyDeleteyour dress is AMAZING! i love it! the bell sleeves and the cut of the dress are perfect.
ReplyDeleteWhat so you mean you can't sew well? Looks good to me!
ReplyDeleteYou are your very own couture! I love what you have made and can see why you have been wearing it a lot, the shape is so flattering on you and I adore the female on front! I do like the pink plastic barbwire dress too, but you probably knew I would. Your pictures always offer me a dreamy escape into something more spectacular than life, I adore your creative spirit!

ReplyDeleteHow very beautiful his frocks are! Amazing what you can do with some wild imagination and inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteYou've made yourself a bit of a masterpiece, darling! I am a lazy sewer;and should know better, but I'm all for short cuts and cobbling things together out of bits and pieces! Your frock is FABULARSE!
As are you, but you already know that!
Yellow skirt takeoff expected on Friday!
Love and rainbows!XXXXXXXXX
That open weave lace fabric is amazing, though I am less keen on the shapeless style of the dress. I like the fitted pink dress with the bows and net at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteBut I think your dress is better than all of them! Those sleeves and the shape of the bodice are wonderful, you look like a glamorous medieval lady, in a mini! Your posts, images, and style are always creative and inspirational, my friend.
PS. And I am so excited that the freaky yellow skirt is heading your way! Who does it fly to after you? I am keen to be on the list, but if you already have someone to send it on to, let me know and I will get in touch with them. xxxx
Clever you, and lovely inspiring stuff, my dear Edie.

ReplyDeleteLove this collection and the clips from Young Frankenstein :D + your dress is fricken cute.
ReplyDeletethe collection is brilliant but your dress is even more beautiful, i love how you recreate new amazing clothes with old ones, you never cease to impress us all with your creative mind!
ReplyDeletebig kiss,mary
You are such an artist! I not only LOVE the Frankie with the teacup and haute couture and the jarred brains with the model, but your own upcycle is awesome. Your world is monstrously attractive. The Trucker-Venus-meets-Lionized-T-Rex motif is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteMe and the sewing machine ... it's a lottery where I lose nine times out of ten, but maybe I should start re-sewing on old clothes instead. If I manage as well as you two times out of ten I'd be happy.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of giving old dresses a new look or create something new with it ! Well done the result is AMAZING ! Have a fabby week dear ! XX Tani
ReplyDeleteOh my darling, you are Dr Frankenstein - this dress is SPLENDIDLY FABULARSE! You are beautiful and as always, your artist's eye and sensibility makes me wish I was there. I love the pastel pink frocks with the bows. And I love you. You are an exquisite ray of light. Love you more than Steve Martin! Sarah xxx
ReplyDeleteLove your photos! Especially the last one and the nihilist rock star photo too.
ReplyDeleteHeheheeeeee I love how you take advantage of your ability "to sew not very well" - yet you create a most glorious creation using many different garments! Simply amazing!!!! How about you come here and we can have our sewing machines, one at each end of the table overlooking the sea and we can make wonderful frankenstein dresses - oh glorious!!!! What fun we would have! Meanwhile, I have been inspired by this post and I have a beautiful homemade 1970s cotton maxi that needs the magic touch of some Frockensteen skills! xoxo
ReplyDeleteChristopher Kane and Missoni are 2 of my absolute faves! I adore your creation! Very bohemian and rock n' roll.
ReplyDeleteI adore your Frankenstein biatch creation!
