Her lie reflected my lie

An EARTH SANDWICH is created when two slices of bread are simultaneously placed on opposite sides of the EARTH, I read about this in Douglas Copland's "Generation A", well it was not the main subject of the book and neither of this post, but the romantic idea of two friends living on different poles of the planet doing the same thing at the same moment makes  impossible for me to decline  Sarah's proposal to write about one of our favourite movie at the same time.

The rules were:

The first rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club.
The second rule of Fight Club is, you DO NOT talk about Fight Club.
Third rule of Fight Club: If someone says stop, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over.
Fourth rule: Two guys to a fight.
Fifth Rule: One fight at a time.
Sixth rule: No T-shirts, no shoes.
well, you know...

Marla…the big tourist. Her lie reflected my lie. Suddenly, I felt nothing. I couldn’t  cry, so once again I couldn’t sleep.

"The girl is infectious human waste, and she's confused and afraid to commit to the wrong thing so she won't commit to anything."

Marla's philosophy of life was that she might die at any moment. The tragedy, she said, was that she didn't.

I got this dress at a thrift store for one dollar. It’s a bridesmaid’s dress, someone loved it intensely for one day, and then tossed it. Like a Christmas tree. So special. Then, bam, it’s on the side of the road. Tinsel still clinging to it. Like a sex crime victim. Underwear inside out. Bound with electrical tape.

Disaster is a natural part of my evolution, toward tragedy and dissolution.

"first, you have to know, not fear, know that someday you are going to die. until you know that, you have no sense of urgency. you think you have all the time in the world to do amazing things, but you may not live to see that particular someday. so quit reading articles for a bit and go do what really needs to be done today."

  10. LORDY I think this might just be the best friggin post you have ever done!!! You have nailed Marla and her tragic existence is reflected in your eyes! Your creativity knows no bounds and I feel like any space you occupy becomes your own, no matter what. This post is more to me than just you channeling Marla, it is a strong message about the urgency of life. I feel compelled to skip out on work today hop on a plane and come visit you!!! I love the sentiment here, the tragedy and the beauty of it all, BUT most of all I love you dear, you are such a beautiful being! The lilac dress, the words from the film, your eyes...I will be thinking about this all day. I have to go see what Sarah did.
